The group came about
after Robin Zimmerman's adoption coordinator said, "Hey all you Florida
families should get together." So Robin thought that as a stay-at-home
mom, she probably had the most time to gather info and families to get a
FL fam cam off the ground.
There were four or
five families who got together a few times after she came home in April
2002. Robin emailed the national Fam Cam coordinator who gave some
helpful information and received some ideas from the president of the SE
Fam Cam group (Georgia, SC, NC).
The areas represented
thus far are Gainesville, Ocala, Umatilla (near Mt Dora), Orlando, Tampa
& St. Petersberg, Sarasota, and So. Florida/Ft Lauderdale/Miami area.
We elected officers who will
hold their office for one year from January 25, 2003. The officers are as
follows:
President/Treasurer: Robin
Zimmerman
Responsible for conducting
events, registering new members and maintaining membership records, acting
as contact person for media, agencies and other organizations. Handling of
all funds and maintaining a checking account for the group.
Publicity Manager: Yassin
Young
Responsible for designing and
maintaining FL Fam Cam website, designing and maintaining the FL Fam Cam
section of the national Fam Cam website (TBD).
Activity Coordinator South
FL: Beth Nilsen
Responsible for coordinating
activities in the Sarasota area.
Activity Coor for Tampa/St.
Pete and Newsletter: Jeanne Malmgren
Responsible for coordinating
activities in the Tampa/St. Pete area
(Jeanne was not able to be at
the event but expressed an interest to Robin about being an officer.)
Producer of newsletter for group (TBD) with Jeanne's permission.
Humanitarian Coordinator:
Barbara Rinehart
Responsible for researching
charitable causes that benefit children and families of Cambodia;
coordinating any charitable work that FL FamCam wishes to conduct;
reporting results of each fundraising activity to the president/treasurer
for newsletter and records.
Historian: Kathy Bronson
Responsible for taking photos
at FL Fam Cam events; creating a scrapbook for the group; providing
pictures for newsletter.
